# Data Retention Policy

# Data Retention Policy

**Effective date:** February 1, 2026

TempInbox is a temporary service. We retain data only as long as needed to operate the service.

## Retention periods

* **Messages and inbox metadata:** retained for a limited time (default 30 days).
* **Deleted inboxes:** stored to prevent re‑use and reduce abuse.
* **Logs:** retained for a short period for security and reliability.

## Deletion

* Automatic cleanup is always enabled and deletes messages after the retention period.
* You can delete messages or delete an inbox at any time to remove data sooner.

## Exceptions

We may retain data longer if required by law or to protect the service from abuse.
